AI technologies are evolving rapidly and changing our lives in many ways, but it entails a number of potential risks, such as human rights and safety issues. The EU is planning to create the world's first regulatory framework for AI, while Japan is discussing a new framework to make AI both reliable and innovative. In this workshop, policymakers from Europe and Japan, as well as representatives from industry, government and academia, will discuss how to build an ecosystem and a new governance system to ensure human rights and safety while maintaining the competitiveness of AI technologies through EU-Japan cooperation.
