- Propelling Connectivity: LiDAR's role in 5G-based IoT
- As LiDAR technology matures, more opportunities are arising for its implementation in conjunction with other technologies to gather data and create connected roadways and cities. When LiDAR technology is combined with a 5G cellular network, interconnected installations throughout smart cities facilitate a new type of awareness and analytical insight capable of making urban areas safer, less congested, easier to navigate, and altogether more efficient. LiDAR’s extreme accuracy and precision has fostered the next generation of autonomous vehicles and spurred the evolution of smart cities by enabling the capability to track pedestrian flow and public transportation vehicles at intersections. From a structural standpoint, cities can also better plan to reduce traffic stoppage and improve air quality. Over time, LiDAR provides city planners intricate maps of traffic and pedestrian flow, arming them with data to guide future infrastructure and urban development decisions.

- How smart glass will change our future life in the 5G era?
- In the 5G era, the use of smart glasses will escalate dramatically. With 5G, streaming video will be very fast, and this will vastly improve the video quality in in doing remote support using smart glasses. Many experiments on this have already started. In addition, doing facial recognition and translations can be done in real time with the use of smart glasses. In order to make the most of what 5G will offer, Vuzix will upgrade the technical features of our smart glasses. We will also design them into more fashionable products for better acceptability for the end user.
